ABOUT BOB SWEENEY
Dallas LIFE Homeless Shelter
Bob has been in ministry since 1984. He spent 15 years as a Senior Pastor in Anchorage, Alaska and Central Pennsylvania. Bob then became the head chaplain in a maximum security prison for the State of Pennsylvania.
Since 1998 he has been involved in homeless ministry first as a Men’s Program Director and as a CEO since 2000. He has seen over 5000 men and women come through a drug/ alcohol program he has personally written. He came to Dallas LIFE, the largest homeless shelter in North Texas in 2005. Bob’s substance recovery methods are getting the attention of many in both ministry, as well as secular circles. Bob was asked to write about the amazing success rate being seen at Dallas LIFE, and in May of 2010 published “2535 Main Street.” Bob’s second book “Homeless No More” released in 2015 addresses how to prevent the next generation from becoming homeless as well as issues our homeless Veterans are facing such as PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury. Bob and his wife, Mary Ann, have been married for 33 years, have 5 grown children, 2 grandchildren and live in Dallas.
