No child ever asks to be homeless. Teddy Cares, is written from the perspective of a bear who has been waiting for a special friend. This charmingly illustrated book shares the bear’s anticipation of their new friend’s arrival. Teddy wants them to name him and walk them through the things to come. Throughout the following twelve pages, Teddy reassures his newfound companion that their current location is merely temporary, likening it to a big house more than anything else. He explains that all their needs are taken care of, mentioning the upcoming birthday celebrations, the potential for new friendships, and the availability of people to talk to whenever they feel down. Both the bear and the book serve as concrete symbols of safety and hope for the child and their family’s future.
